What is MK-677 5mg?

MK-677 is a nonpeptide ghrelin-receptor agonist, published as ibutamoren.[1][5] It is not a SARM. It is not a steroid. Clinical trials have explored oral MK-677 as a growth-hormone secretagogue in older adults, obese men, diet-induced catabolism, and Alzheimer disease.

Tetrava Labs files MK-677 with its research peptides as a Research Use Only reagent. Buy MK-677 here for documented laboratory work. Not for human or veterinary consumption.

MK-677 5mg Peptide Research

MK-677 is a ghrelin-receptor agonist, not an androgen ligand

MK-677 binds the ghrelin receptor (GHS-R1a) and is taken by mouth in the published trials. Nass and colleagues gave it to healthy older adults in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled year-long study and reported GH and IGF-1 rising toward a youthful range, with a fat-free-mass signal and a drop in insulin sensitivity.[1]

Murphy's group used oral MK-677 in a diet-induced catabolism model and reported a reversal of that nitrogen-loss signal.[3] Svensson treated obese men for two months and recorded higher GH secretion, higher fat-free mass, and higher fasting insulin and glucose.[2] Those papers are endocrine and metabolic designs. They are not androgen-receptor studies.

Is MK-677 a SARM?

No. SARMs bind the androgen receptor. MK-677 is a ghrelin-receptor agonist.[5] It is a nonpeptide secretagogue, not a steroid scaffold.

Nass, Svensson, Murphy, and Sevigny measured GH, IGF-1, body composition, glucose and insulin, or Alzheimer clinical scales.[1][2][3][4] Those trials were not designed to answer testosterone suppression. Glucose and insulin shifts in Svensson and Nass are the safety-signal literature worth reading before a protocol that already stresses glycemic endpoints.[1][2]

The Alzheimer trial that raised IGF-1 and missed clinical endpoints

Sevigny, Ryan, van Dyck, and colleagues randomized people with Alzheimer disease to MK-677 or placebo and followed clinical progression.[4] IGF-1 moved. The clinical endpoints did not. Neurology published that as no clinical effect on AD progression.

That miss is the contrarian paper in this set. A secretagogue can raise IGF-1 and still fail the scale the trial was built to win. Use Sevigny when a protocol treats IGF-1 as a surrogate. It is a poor surrogate for that disease endpoint.[4]

Oral MK-677 vs peptide secretagogues in a protocol

MK-677 is oral in the papers above. Ipamorelin is a peptide GHS. Different chemical class, same receptor family. A method that needs a nonpeptide, orally studied ghrelin-receptor agonist is asking for MK-677. A method that needs a hexapeptide GHS is asking for a different vial.

Do not convert a Nass or Svensson clinic regimen into a catalog schedule. Those milligram figures belong to supervised trials. They do not scale this research vial.

Where to buy MK-677 should mean a lot number on the vial that matches the Certificate of Analysis. This catalog lists a 5 mg research vial. Nass ran a year. Svensson ran two months. Sevigny raised IGF-1 and missed the Alzheimer clinical scales.[1][2][4] Those clocks and endpoints stay in those papers.

Storage and lot notes

Store sealed vials at the temperature the spec sheet names, typically -20 C for this catalog's lyophilized reagents. Keep the container dry. Record solvent or diluent lot, concentration, date, and operator.
